Short answer, yes. But why would you? Keyboard and mouse offer much better control and accuracy. It's like bringing a knife to a gunfight!

Yeah, you can use a controller. I've tried it for fun and it's okay for casual play, but for serious matches, stick to the keyboard and mouse. Controllers just can't match the speed and precision.
