To change your CS:GO resolution directly in the files, you gotta dive into the game's settings file. Navigate to the CS:GO folder in your Steam directory, usually found under 'Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo\cfg'. Look for a file named video.txt. Open this bad boy with Notepad or any other plain text editor. Inside, you'll find a bunch of settings, including "setting.defaultres" and "setting.defaultresheight". Change those to your desired width and height. Save the file, and boom, next time you launch CS:GO, it should be in your new resolution. Just make sure CS:GO isn’t running when you make these changes, or it might overwrite them when you close the game.

Actually, it's much easier to just set your resolution in-game. Messing with files can get messy and may not even work if you don't know what you're doing. Plus, changes might get reset after updates.

Been there, done that! I had to change my resolution via files because the in-game settings weren’t sticking. Followed a similar process, and it worked like a charm for my old laptop. Definitely make a backup of the original file first, just in case!
