I tried setting up a server once and it was a nightmare. Took me hours and I still messed it up. My advice? Find a good guide online and follow it to the T. And make sure you have a decent internet connection or else it's game over before you even start.

Just get a server hosting service lol. Much easier than doing it yourself and saves you a ton of headache.
