Easy peasy! To set up a private server in CS:GO, you first gotta launch the game and open the console with the `~` key. Then, type 'map de_dust2' (or any map you want) to start an offline game. Once you're in, open the console again and type 'sv_lan 1' to make it LAN, then 'status' to see your server info which your friends will need to connect. Finally, tell your pals to open their consoles and type 'connect Your.IP.Address.Here:PortNumber', replacing 'Your.IP.Address.Here:PortNumber' with your actual server details. Boom, private game time!

Honestly, just use community servers. Way simpler and you don't need to worry about all the setup stuff.

As someone who's hosted dozens of CS:GO private servers for LAN parties, I can tell you the real trick is making sure your internet can handle it. Get that sorted, and the rest is as simple as typing a few commands into the console. Don't forget to set a password with 'sv_password yourpassword' to keep randoms out!
