Honestly, getting a second floor is overrated. Your house is fine the way it is. Save your Bells for something cooler.

Getting a second floor in Animal Crossing requires you to upgrade your house! First, you gotta pay off your initial home loan to Tom Nook. Then, chat with him at the Resident Services about upgrading your house again. It's gonna cost a bunch of Bells, but once you pay off that loan, bam! You'll have a shiny new second floor to decorate and show off to your island visitors.
