How to Get Colored Text in CS:GO

So, you wanna add some color to your CS:GO chats, huh? Easiest trick in the book: use the console. First, you gotta enable that console in the game settings. Once that's done, open it up and type: 'say' followed by your message. But here's the rainbow magic: add ^ and a number (1 through 7) right before your message for color. Like, ^1 will give you red. Keep in mind, it's not a feature officially supported for player names or anything, just a cool easter egg for messages!

It doesn't work. Tried adding colors to my username; ended up with a regular ol' name. Keep the color tricks to your chat messages, folks.

AFAIK, colored text is pretty much a myth for anything outside of chat messages. And even for chat, it's more of a 'hack' that occasionally works. Valve never really intended for texts to be in color, so if it works, consider it a bonus, not a feature.
