How to Run CS:GO with Black Bars
Best answer

Getting black bars in CS:GO is all about adjusting your graphics card settings. For NVIDIA, open the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to 'Adjust desktop size and position', and pick 'Aspect ratio'. Then, make sure to check 'Override the scaling mode set by games and programs'. Boom, black bars should appear. AMD users, you'll find similar settings in the AMD Radeon Settings under 'Display'. Just tweak the scaling options to fit your needs!

Had the same issue! Fixed it by messing around with my monitor's settings. Some monitors let you adjust the aspect ratio directly, and switching it to 4:3 gave me those nostalgic black bars. Plus tweaking the GPU settings like the first answer mentions. Worked like a charm!

Just stick to playing in full screen, folks. Black bars are so 2005.
