Custom game? Just hit 'Play With Friends', set it to 'Private Match', and boom, you've got your custom game. Start adding whatever game settings you want from there. No need to overcomplicate things with console commands, IMO.

Honestly, just use the workshop maps. Go to the 'Play' menu, click on 'Workshop Maps', and you'll find a ton of custom games made by the community. Subscribe to the ones you like, and they'll appear in your game. Easy peasy, and you get to play some really creative stuff without messing with the console.
