Honestly, just play in windowed mode. Full screen is overrated and you can switch between tasks easier without alt-tabbing. Plus, no weird resolution issues.

Go into the game settings, look for 'Display' options, and there you'll find a setting for screen mode. Change it to 'Full Screen'. Also, make sure your game's resolution matches your monitor's for the best quality. Been doing this since GTA III, works every time!
