Honestly, it's not that complicated. People make a big deal out of reading Pokémon card symbols, but once you've seen a few, it's pretty obvious what's rare and what's not.

Just look at the bottom corner of the card, dude. Star = rare, diamond = not so much, circle = common. And the picture tells you the type. That's all you need.
