Spectating in CS:GO is super easy! Just hit 'Shift' + 'Tab' to bring up the Steam overlay, click on your friend's profile, and there should be an option saying 'Join Game' as a spectator. If the match allows spectators, you'll be in. Otherwise, you can always watch live matches through the 'WATCH' tab in the game's main menu, where you can pick from live games, tournaments, or your friends' games if they're playing.
