Trading starters in Pokémon Scarlet is super easy! First, both players need to have a Nintendo Online subscription. Then, just open the Y-Comm by pressing Y, choose Link Trade, and enter the same Link Code as your friend. Make sure you're both connected to the internet, and voilà! Start trading your starters or any other Pokémon you agree on.

I traded my starter with a friend the second day we got the game! We just connected to the internet, set a Link Code that was unique to us, and traded. It was pretty straightforward, and now I've got both starters. Definitely recommend trying it if you have friends playing the game!
