Just set fps_max to 999 in console instead of 0. Some say it's more stable this way and you won't notice the difference unless you're running a supercomputer.

Easiest way? Open the console in-game (you might need to enable it first in the game settings) and type 'fps_max 0'. This will remove the frame rate cap, letting your game run as fast as your setup can handle!
