I dunno why everyone makes a big deal out of updates. Just play the game and it'll prompt you to update if ya need it. Easy.

Actually, the easiest way to keep Pokemon Scarlet and Violet updated is to enable auto-updates on your Switch. Just go to the System Settings, scroll down to System, and turn on 'Auto-Update Software'.
