Honestly, they're pretty much the same game. If you've played one, you've kinda played them both, except for a few exclusive Pokemon and the legendaries.

They're similar but not identical. From my experience, the choice mainly affects which legendary you get and some exclusive Pokemon. The overall adventure feels the same, but those exclusives make it worth playing both if you're a hardcore fan.
