Yep, there was a midnight release for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet! Lots of stores had special midnight openings for the launch. But it depended on where ya were and the store itself. Some places even did digital release parties online, so you could join the fun from your couch!

Digital versions definitely dropped at midnight, depending on your time zone. So if you pre-ordered on the eShop, you could start playing right as the clock hit 12!
