Nah, they're not exactly the same. While both Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars are often considered to be around 1:64 scale, there can be some variation between the two. Hot Wheels tends to focus more on custom, hot rod-inspired designs which sometimes play fast and loose with scale to get that cool factor. Matchbox, on the other hand, aims for more realism and accuracy in its models. So, if you line them up side by side, you might notice some differences in size and proportions.

From personal experience, trying to mix Hot Wheels and Matchbox on the same track can sometimes show the difference. I've noticed Hot Wheels cars can be a tad bigger, especially the fantasy models. But for casual play, you might not even notice.

Hot Wheels > Matchbox for cool factor, but if you're talking scale, Matchbox wins for accuracy. Just my two cents.

Yes and no. Technically, they're supposed to be the same scale, but Hot Wheels has a flair for the dramatic. Expect some Hot Wheels to look beefier or just slightly larger because of their stylized designs. Matchbox sticks to realism, making them more true to scale, especially for collectors who value accuracy.
