Hot Wheels + dishwasher = bad idea. The heat can mess with the metal and plastic, not to mention what it can do to those cool decals and paint jobs. Just a damp cloth should do the trick to keep them looking mint.

Nope, I wouldn't recommend throwing your Hot Wheels in the dishwasher. The high heat can warp the plastic and strip the paint off your precious cars. Better to clean them the old-fashioned way with a bit of soap and water by hand.
I actually tried it once, thinking I'd outsmart the system and save time. Bad move. The colors faded and one of my favorite cars lost its wheels. Lesson learned: hand wash only.
