Nope, you'll need Xbox Live Gold to play Ark online with friends. But if you're into solo adventures, single-player mode is all yours without it!

Short answer: No Xbox Live Gold, no multiplayer. Single-player is good though.

Unfortunately, to join those epic multiplayer sessions in Ark, Xbox Live Gold is a must. But hey, solo mode is still a blast!

From my experience, I had to get Xbox Live Gold to enjoy Ark's crazy online tribes and epic battles. Totally worth it!
