Been there, tried that! Sadly, laptops' HDMI ports don’t work as inputs. I ended up getting a capture card, and it worked like a charm!

You can't directly connect an Xbox 360 to a laptop with an HDMI cable because most laptop HDMI ports are output-only. You'll need a capture card or an HDMI input device for that!
