Absolutely, you can shine light through most Pokemon cards, especially the newer ones! The light test is a neat trick to check for card authenticity. Real cards have a bit of a unique, consistent pattern when you shine a light through them, unlike counterfeits which usually block the light completely or let it pass through unevenly. Remember to use a gentle, not too intense light source to avoid damaging the card.

Yep, did the light test on my latest haul. It's cool seeing the patterns when the light hits just right. Feels like I'm discovering a secret code in my Pokemon cards.

Nah, not really. Most cards are too thick for light to pass through in any meaningful way. If you're trying to do the light test for authenticity, there are better ways to verify your cards.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
