Can't connect to friends Terraria server?
It sounds like a classic case of port forwarding or firewall issues. Make sure the host has forwarded the correct port (default is 7777) on their router and that both of your firewalls are allowing Terraria through. Sometimes restarting the game or your routers can work wonders too!

Had the same prob last week! Check if you're both on the same game version. Turns out, my buddy was on a newer update and I just had to upgrade my game. Worked like a charm after that!
Are you sure the server's up? Sometimes it's as simple as the server being down. Double-check with your friend.
Just add Terraria as an exception in your antivirus and firewall. Fixed it for me instantly.
lol, have you tried turning it off and on again? But seriously, restarting stuff sometimes fixes it.
