I had this issue too! I just cleared the cache of the app on my phone settings, restarted the app, and it miraculously started working again. Also, make sure the game is updated to the latest version; sometimes old bugs prevent the account from saving properly.
Honestly, don't even bother. Just play without saving, adds to the thrill.
