Nope, the Pokemon game actually came first! The original Pokemon video game for the Game Boy came out in 1996. The Pokemon Trading Card Game didn't hit the shelves until 1996 in Japan and 1998 in the US. So, the video game craze kicked off the whole Pokemon mania before the cards started fueling our schoolyard trades.

Actually, the video games started the Pokemon frenzy. The first Pokemon game was released in 1996, and the trading cards followed shortly after. It's like the games laid the groundwork for what would become one of the most beloved trading card games out there.

Cards? Nah, games ruled first. Pokemon Red and Green for the win!

Video games, period. Cards were just icing on the already delicious Pokemon cake.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
