Honestly, Tetris 99 didn't 'beat' Apex Legends at all. They cater to different audiences. Apex has that action-packed, squad-based gameplay that keeps you on the edge of your seat. And, it's constantly getting updates, new legends, and maps which keeps things fresh. Tetris 99 is cool for puzzle lovers, but they're just not on the same level.
Tetris 99 is a blast, but Apex Legends has a bigger player base and more mainstream appeal. Both rock in their own ways.
