Nah, Crocodile doesn't bite the dust in One Piece. He gets defeated by Luffy during the Alabasta arc, but he's too tough and too sneaky to let something like getting beaten stop him. Later on, you can see him making moves during the Impel Down and Marineford arcs, and he's very much alive and kicking.
