Marco met a tragic end when he overheard Reiner and Bertholdt talking about their true identities as Titans. Reiner, fearing exposure, restrained Marco and left him to be devoured by a Titan.

Marco caught Reiner and Bertholdt discussing their Titan identities. They trapped him and left him to be eaten by a Titan. RIP Marco.

Marco's death was because he overheard Reiner and Bertholdt's secret. They decided to leave him to be eaten by a Titan so he wouldn't expose them.

They left Marco to get chomped by a Titan. He overheard the wrong conversation. Bummer for Marco.

Reiner and Bertholdt basically threw Marco under the Titan bus to protect their secret. Talk about a bad day at the office.
