Just flip the card and check the date. If it's from 1999 and missing the shadow on the right, you've struck gold!

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! A shadowless Pokemon card is one of the earliest prints from the Base Set and they're pretty unique. The most telltale sign is the absence of a shadow on the right side of the image box. If your card looks flat without that shadow, congrats, it's a shadowless card! Also, the colors might be more vibrant, and the text is usually thinner compared to later prints. So, grab your card and give it a good look!

No shadows here, just a bit of advice: not every old Pokemon card is worth something. Even if it's shadowless, condition matters a LOT. Keep it in mint condition!

Honestly, I think folks make too big a deal about shadowless cards. Sure, they're rare and cool, but the joy of Pokemon TCG is in the gameplay, not just collecting! Play the game, enjoy it, that's where the real value lies.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
