Easy peasy! From the Facebook app, tap the three horizontal lines, scroll to Settings & Privacy, go to 'Your Facebook Information,' then select 'Deactivation and Deletion.' Pick 'Deactivate Account' and confirm.
You can pause it by deactivating it in the settings. Just make sure to follow the steps under 'Deactivation and Deletion.'
I did this last week. Just head to Settings > Your Facebook Information > Deactivation and Deletion. It takes like 2 minutes!
