Equip the boost pack and press the jump button twice. Simple as that.
You'll need to unlock the Boost Pack Training skill in the Tech skill tree first. After that, equip the pack and press the jump button while airborne to give yourself a lift!
From personal experience, make sure you don't forget to equip the boost pack after upgrading it! Nothing's worse than jumping into a pit without your trusty jetpack.
