Just smack it with your sword! JK, don't. You actually need to press the interact button when you're close to it. It's usually 'R' on your keyboard if you're playing on PC.

Pro tip: Make sure nothing's blocking you from the chest. Sometimes, I build stuff too close and can't open it until I break down the barriers. Literally, knock down a wall to get to the loot.

Opening a chest in Terraria is super easy! Just walk up to the chest you want to explore and press the 'Interact' key (default is 'R' on PC, 'A' on Xbox, and 'X' on PlayStation). Make sure you're not holding a tool or weapon that might block the action, like a pickaxe or a sword. If it's your first time and the chest is locked, you'll need a key that matches the chest type. Happy looting!

If you're a Terraria player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
