How does damage calculation work in Pokemon TCG?
Just hit 'em hard and hope for the best! Seriously though, check the attacks on your card, factor in Weakness/Resistance, and don't forget about any Trainer cards that might boost your damage. The math isn't too hard, but keeping track of modifiers in the heat of battle is where it gets spicy!

Damage calculation in Pokemon TCG is pretty straightforward, but it does require a little bit of math. Each Pokemon card has its own attack moves that specify how much damage they do to the opponent's Pokemon. This damage can be modified by Weaknesses or Resistances noted on the defending Pokemon's card. For example, if your Pokemon's attack does 60 damage and your opponent's Pokemon has a Weakness to your Pokemon's type, the damage might be doubled to 120. On the flip side, if the opponent has Resistance, they might reduce the damage by 20 or 30, depending on what's listed on their card. Also, don't forget about Trainer and Special cards that can further modify damage!
TBH, most of the time you're just looking at the number next to the attack. But when you start throwing Weakness, Resistance, and card effects into the mix, that's where you earn your stripes as a strategist. It's not rocket science, but it's not checkers either.
