Actually, Red Hawk is more than just a 'fiery punch.' It's a physical representation of Luffy's willpower and tribute to Ace. The mechanics are backed by Gear Second and Armament Haki, sure, but the fire? That's all heart and the burning spirit of his brother’s will living on through Luffy.

Red Hawk is one of Luffy's epic moves where he basically turns his arm into a flaming projectile of doom. First, he stretches his arm back and uses Gear Second to speed up the blood flow and increase the tension. Then, when he snaps his arm forward, he combines it with Haki and friction, which causes his fist to ignite into flames, looking pretty much like a fiery hawk diving at its prey. It’s a super cool nod to his brother Ace’s fire-based powers too!

It's just Luffy punching really fast and hard, but with EXTRA spice - aka fire.
