In Pokemon TCG, you start with a seven-card opening hand. Before the game kicks off, you draw these seven cards after deciding who goes first but before you play any cards. Remember, you need at least one Basic Pokemon in that initial hand to begin the game, or you'll have to reshuffle and draw a new hand of seven cards!
