Just 8. Each generation reflects the video game gens, adding new Pokemon and sometimes new game mechanics. Can't wait to see what gen 9 brings!
Up till now, we've seen a total of 8 generations of Pokemon cards, each bringing its own set of cards, mechanics, and sometimes even new types of Pokemon. It's like every few years, we get a whole new playground of Pokemon battles.
