You'll need at least two purple tablets to progress smoothly. One for the mountain island alien facility and another for the primary containment facility. Grab a couple more if you want to explore all optional areas with ease.

Technically, you really only need one purple tablet if you don’t mind some creative maneuvering. But two is the safer bet to avoid backtracking.
