Torpedoes in Subnautica are more about crowd control than damage. They won't kill anything but will give you space to get away.

Torpedos in Subnautica don't deal direct damage to creatures. Instead, they create vortexes that disorient and push creatures away. Great for dealing with aggressive fauna!

I used the Vortex Torpedo on a Reaper once. Didn't hurt it, but it definitely got confused and swam away!
