To spare Muffet, just buy a Spider Donut or a Spider Cider from the Ruins at the start of the game and use it during her fight. She'll recognize it and let you go!

The trick is to eat a Spider Donut or Spider Cider during the fight. She'll see it and think you're helping the spiders out, so she won't attack you.

Just keep surviving her attacks until the end of the battle. If you tough it out, she'll eventually let you go.
