Just enable cross-play and search for their in-game name. If you're on console and they're on PC (or vice versa), you guys can still team up and conquer the Apex Games together!
Honestly, it's kinda cool how seamless it is. I added my buddy who plays on PS while I'm on Xbox, and we've been dominating ever since. Don't forget to double-check your friend's exact username, including any special characters.
