From experience, the best way is to use their Player ID. Open the friends tab (bottom left), hit 'Add Friend,' and type it in. Works every time for me!
Just find their Player Tag and send them a request. Super simple.
Easy peasy! Just tap on the friends icon at the bottom left of the main screen, then hit the 'Add Friend' button. Enter your friend's Player ID or use a shareable link. Boom, you're friends!
