I just start a mission and go to my apartment to watch TV. Keeps me from getting kicked for idling and I can rack up hours for my nightclub to produce goods. Perfect for when I need to step away and grab food or do chores.
Honestly, just plug your controller into the charger, start a mission, and let your character watch TV in their apartment. Make sure you're not in a public session to avoid those pesky griefers. That's it; you're farming those passive businesses!
