Honestly, don't attack. Go for the pacifist route! Befriend those monsters instead.
Attacking in Undertale is simple: when in battle, move the heart to the middle of the screen and press Z or Enter to stop the bar in the center for maximum damage!
To attack in Undertale, just press Z or Enter when the attack bar reaches the middle for best results. Give those monsters a taste of your power!
I always go for the pacifist route, but if you must attack, nail the timing by stopping the bar in the center using Z or Enter.
