Whatever you do, do NOT open that trapdoor in the treehouse. It's like a neon sign saying 'Bite Me.'
If you want Emma to avoid any nasty bites, make sure she grabs the fireworks earlier in the game, and when you get to the treehouse, choose NOT to open the trapdoor. It worked for me!
