Use both hands! I improved a lot when I started using one hand for the left and down arrows and the other for up and right arrows. It'll feel awkward at first, but it works!

Practice, practice, practice! Focus on the easier songs first to get the hang of the rhythm, then slowly work your way up to the harder tracks. Also, try to play using headphones to better hear the beats!
