First, get good grades in school, then major in Archaeology or Anthropology in college! After that, look for Archaeologist job postings in the full-time job listings.

Make sure your character is born smart, studies hard, goes to university, and graduates with a degree in Archaeology or Anthropology!

I did this last week! I focused on getting my character's smarts up, went to college for Archaeology, and boom, got hired as an Archaeologist in no time!
