Just don't hurt anybody. Use the Act menu and always choose to spare the enemies in battle. You'll be everyone's friend in no time!
I did the True Pacifist run, and it worked like a charm! No fighting at all. Engage with the characters, and follow the hidden questlines. Trust me, it's worth it for the ending!
Hot take: skip the Neutral and Genocide runs. Go straight for the Pacifist route. Best experience for making friends!
