Honestly, just mute them. Way less drama and easy to do!
Go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Blocked Contacts, then 'Add New', and select the contact you want to block. Simple as that!
Under Chats, tap on the contact you want to block. Tap on their name at the top and scroll down to 'Block Contact'. Done!
