You can also cancel straight from the Xbox console: go to 'Settings' > 'Account' > 'Payment & Billing' > 'Order History'. Find your pre-order and select 'Cancel'. Job done!

From my experience, it's best to do it online, it's quicker and you get an email confirmation right away. Log into your Microsoft account and manage your orders there.
