Short version: Get Affiliate/Partner status -> Link payout info -> Twitch pays you for bits.
Bits = cheers. Streamers get 1 cent for every bit. Once you're an Affiliate or Partner, you'll get paid through your linked payout method when you hit the $100 threshold.
Been there, done that! As a streamer, I had to reach Affiliate status first, then bam, earnings from bits were included in my monthly payout from Twitch!
