fire is not a tool in Stardew, folks. Scythe it, don't incinerate it. Safety first and foremost, both in-game and IRL.
Actually, letting it grow and then chopping it with a scythe after you have a silo is smart. You stock up on hay for your animals for free!
Just let the animals out, they'll eat it up eventually. Less work for you, and happy animals!
